  • CINNAMON in the form of cassia bark is used as a perfect flavoring agent for desserts, pastries and meat. Grated cassia bark is also used in many curry recipes and of course as a new tradition on the Swedish Christmas rice pudding.

The cassia sticks are extremely hard and usually consist of one thick layer making them perfect to grate with our RIVSALT graters.

  • The aroma of grated Tonka bean is enchanting. Almond, vanilla, woodruff and fresh hay blended with fruity, spicy notes. Suitable for desserts? Definitely. And for cocktails, savory dishes and pastry, too.

Sprinkle Tonka shavings on Irish Coffee. Use it in chocolate truffles or crème brûlée alongside sweet fruits like strawberry and apricots. Why not stir grated Tonka into a rich tomato soup, flavor a mayonnaise to accompany fish or grate some over scallops? Grate it with any RIVSALT grater but use Tonka bean shavings sparingly. A small amount is enough to add that delicious, subtle taste.

  • Nutmeg is known for its warm, spicy aroma and wide use. You often find it in pumpkin pies and cakes, but it can also give sweet and savory food that extra kick of flavor. Nutmeg is especially suited for creamy or cheesy dishes such as lasagna, creamed spinach and mashed potatoes (with butter, a lot).

Add freshly grated Nutmeg to custards, pancake batter and banana-based desserts. Stir some into your chocolate mousse. Sprinkle Nutmeg shavings on top of hot chocolate or an espresso. Taste it. Smile. Have some more.

  • CHILI is all about flavor and experience. Just like RIVSALT. So creating our own chili product, which you are now holding in your hand, felt natural. A perfectly shaped grater in stainless steel, a holder in oak wood and the best possible chili pepper selection we could find. Another Scandinavian gastronomic experience by RIVSALT.

Common in many cuisines, chili peppers are used to add heat and flavor. Whether you grate it over risottos, pastas or tacos, chili gives every dish a fiery aroma. But not all of them are as hot as many people think.

  • Common in many cuisines, chili peppers are used to add heat and flavor. Whether you grate it over risottos, pastas or tacos, chili gives every dish a fiery aroma. But not all of them are as hot as many people think. Chili peppers belong to the paprika family [Capsicum] and the exclusive yellow AMAZON CHILI [Capsicum Annuum] adds a milder fruity note to your dish.

Our yellow amazon chili grows in Colombia. It belongs to the sharper but not extreme group of chilies with 50.000-70.000 Scoville heat units. Amazon chilies are harvested just before full ripeness, that’s why they are yellow. Refine your soups, meat dishes and dips with this grated delight.

But not all of them are as hot as many people think. Chili peppers belong to the paprika family [Capsicum] and from the red organic birds eye chili [Capsicum Frutescens] you get the well-known tongue-tingling heat.

  • JALAPENO CHILI makes many of us think of Tex-Mex, the exciting mix of Mexican and Spanish food that Tejanos – Texans of Mexican descent – developed in the late 19th century. Tortillas, nachos, and burritos are some mouth-watering examples that are appreciated by more people than those who live in the Lone Star State.
Rivsalt’s green JALAPENO CHILI [Capsicum Annuum] is grown in Spain. The taste is mild, round, and fruity with a heat around 5,000 Scoville units. Sprinkle grated jalapeño over meat dishes such as chili con carne and goulash, season the cheddar cheese sauce and grate jalapeño over your homemade pizza. Jalapeño chili is mild enough to suit most dishes and hot enough to make a difference.
